Medusa Carbon Transfer Park

A circular industrial unit located on the hundred-year-old pier at the Port of A Coruña, and housing a Gas Natural Fenosa carbon transfer park. An ecological project of importance to the city, with the aim of improving the quality of the air around it and with a significant visual impact on A Coruña Bay.

The unit has 112 metres of lighting and an inner retaining wall measuring 105 metres in diameter. The roof is lightweight and removable, made of steel sheets on hollow tubes. The frame runs along the exterior to prevent the accumulation of carbon dust inside, which could create a potentially explosive atmosphere. The roof sits on 16 encased pilings that pierce the pier’s filler and travel down to a seabed 50 metres deep.
